Appalled

Phil Jacobsen is a friend currently wintering in Antarctica at McMurdo Station. He writes a blog, and so much more. He is funny and articulate, even deep in the throes of a winterover's T3 syndrome, when his mind is a dark-addled mush.

His most recent post on his site had me in tears. I am appalled, sickened, and saddened enormously, by the Antarctic future he has glimpsed, as posited by Raytheon Polar Services, current holders of the U.S. Antarctic Program's support services contract.
